We had this problem encountered before on a two different situations, one was a bad power supply and other was a bad fan.

Avid Protools and Thunderbolt

The video below is from IDF 2010 dated DEC 1, 2010, it is a demonstration on Bridge technology using a laptop PC platform with lightpeak integrated also known as the “Thunderbolt”.
The laptop is connected to a prototype Avid Pro Tools HD audio interface and the computer is running Pro Tools HD. Obviously, there are no PCI Express cards in sight.
