Expansion Technology

PCI & PCIExpress Expansion Systems

Still love my TDM Mix+++. Can I add a PCIe host card to my Magma 01-04625-00 PCI 13 slot chassis and use it on my Power Mac G5 quad 2.5 PCIe machine? This would be a cost effective solution for me. Thanks!

I found the answer in another discussion. Appreciate the info...
Charlie,

Thanks for the update.
Yes, you can use a PCIExpress host interface card to connect your existing 13slot chassis to a Power Mac G5 quad 2.5 PCIe machine. On the other hand, if you have a MacPro Intel Machine, your 13slot chassis is not going to work.
Also, old expansion 13slot chassis is not compatible with Power Mac G5 even if you use the PCIExpress Host card. Old Expansion chassis has DEC CHIP, which is not compatible with Power Mac G5 and MacPro.
Have a 7 slot Avid/Digi chassis model MH477,. Can I put a PCIe host card on this unit for user with a G5 quad non intel machine?
Hello Charlie,
Unfortunatley you can't put a Magma PCIE host in this Avid/Digi unit (model MH477).
The Magma PCie Host card only works with the Magma expansion unit.
This Avid/Digi unit (model MH477) is not a Magma product, which means it was build by a different manufacturer for Avid/Digi.

Thanks
Can I put a PCIe host card on this unit? Magma 01-04625-00 PCI 13 Slot Expansion Chassis P13R
Charlie,
I am not sure what you meant by "put a PCIE host card on this unit", are you referring to installing the PCIe host card inside the Magma Expansion P13R, please clarify?

FYI:
P13R is a PCI based expansion chassis, it uses PCI slots, therefore, it can only be used with PCI cards, which means you can only install PCI based cards in it, you cannot install PCIE ( PCI Express Card) in it.
