Has anyone used the ASAN ST "ELK-CB1" series 1-slot PCI expansion box? http://www.asanst.com/kor/product/datasheet/08/ELK-CB1%20Series.pdf
Not sure if these are still (or were ever) on the market as the PDF file dates from 2007.
I have emailed them but no reply yet.

But I've heard about this company in Japan that build expansion system.
Here is their website

The price is pretty good, it is very affordable.
If you are going to compare their price against Magma, Contec price is pretty good.
Magma is damn expensive, not sure how the heck Magma come up with a sky rocketing price for their Expansion Chassis
Thanks, Nick, that may be exactly what I'm looking for. I will contact the Australian agents for Contec next week.
It turned out that the ASAN ST unit was just a Magma unit at the standard high price. I asked a Korean friend to conact them when they did not reply to me.

Did you get any information from Contec about their expansion systems?
No answer yet. I phoned the local (Australian) agents and they are waiting for advice from head office. However, a US site I saw indicates the the Contec products are also quite expensive, though not as bad as Magma.

I heard back from Contec. Their (Asutralian) prices are similar to Magma's - maybe very slightly cheaper.
What I wanted was a single slot PCI box so that I can run a PCI card via a laptop. But it's not essential, so a second hand desktop running XP is a highly cost effective solution (less than $200 with monitor) and that's what I'm using. However, a PCI slot box would have been far more elegant a solution. But it seems the market for these is small so the prices have to be high. A pity.

This is less expensive compared to Magma ExpressBox7
Thanks, Ed. I think that's overkill! See previous reply.
